There is something quietly powerful about gathering in a space where the only expectation is to pause and write. Our second TASE Journaling Club session was a continuation of that intention: centred around the theme of moments of gratitude, the small, often overlooked experiences in our daily lives that can shift how we see the day. Rather than treating gratitude as something abstract or forced, the session invited participants to approach it gently: by noticing what is already present.
During this session, gratitude was explored through three simple steps: noticing, reflecting, and carrying it forward. The idea was not to search for grand moments, but to recognise the small ones that quietly exist in everyday life, a moment of rest, a supportive conversation, or even the effort it takes to show up for ourselves on a difficult day.
One reflection that emerged from the session is how easily gratitude can slip past us when life feels busy or overwhelming. Often, our attention naturally moves toward what is unfinished, stressful, or uncertain. Pausing to write allows us to briefly shift that focus and acknowledge what is also steady, supportive, or meaningful in our lives.
Journaling, in this sense, becomes less about writing perfectly and more about creating space to notice our inner world. When we slow down enough to reflect, we sometimes realise that gratitude is not always loud or obvious. Sometimes it appears in quieter forms, recognising our own resilience, appreciating someone who showed up for us, or simply acknowledging that we made it through a challenging week.
Ultimately, the Journaling Club is less about producing pages of writing and more about practising presence. In the middle of routines that ask us to move quickly, taking a moment to notice and reflect can be a quiet but meaningful act of care toward ourselves. It was such a beautiful experience to get to hold a session like this, and thank you to everyone who joined us for this session and contributed to such a thoughtful and open space. We look forward to continuing these reflections together.
Stay tuned for future Journaling Club sessions.
